This project for a tranquil pool pavilion in the heart of the Veneto region seamlessly blends modern and historic elements, creating a sustainable yet elegant retreat amidst the natural beauty of the Treviso countryside. Maximizing light and views while maintaining subtle aesthetics was key in the design of this project that acts as a gateway to the surrounding countryside.

A minimalist, modernist pavilion complements the recently restored Venetian villa where the client lives with a family of five. Two monolithic solid walls of local pale stone, the 'pietra di Vicenza', evoke the qualities of the historical grand horizontal enclosure walls of Venetian villas, regulating temperature and air circulation throughout the structure. While two large curtain walls offer expansive views of the ever-changing nature, maximizing light and connection to the carefully landscaped trees, the historic villa and the pool. A natural water filtration system is used for the pool, and the solar-powered roof meets 80% of the energy needs of the pavilion and pool.

The multifunctional pavilion features an open living area with a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a spacious patio where the client can relax and entertain their numerous visitors. This adaptable space can also accommodate overnight guests. Here, the sunset casts particularly evocative shadows across the living room when it shines from behind the landscaped group of trees adjacent to the villa, entering the living room and casting suggestive long shadows. Elegant lighting enhances the beauty of the trees and villa also at night, making the space equally inviting at different times of the day.

With a focus on sustainability and a seamless integration with the surroundings, this first conceptual stage successfully captures the client's vision for a tranquil escape that honors the beauty of the Veneto countryside. We are confident that this design, centered around the client's desires and the harmonious relationship with the natural world, will blossom into a truly distinctive project.
